Civic Education learning should ideally develop students’ critical thinking skills through active, contextual, and problem-based learning. However, preliminary observations in class VII E of SMPN 12 Malang showed that students tended to be passive and had difficulty analyzing problems logically. This study aims to improve students’ critical thinking skills through a case study analysis approach on the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This Classroom Action Research was conducted in two cycles, involving 29 students in Cycle I and 28 students in Cycle II. Data were collected through tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed an improvement in students’ critical thinking skills. The average score increased from 72.02 in Cycle I to 85.54 in Cycle II. The percentage of learning mastery also increased from 48.28% to 85.71%. Therefore, the case study analysis approach on NKRI territorial issues can improve students’ critical thinking skills in Civic Education learning.
