This study aims to improve the ability to write simple sentences through the use of picture series media among second-grade elementary school students in Indonesian language instruction. This study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, conducted in two cycles, comprising the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects consisted of 26 second-grade students. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests, observations, and documentation. Quantitative data were analyzed using learning achievement percentages and average scores, while qualitative data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the use of picture series media can improve students’ ability to write simple sentences. In the pre-cycle phase, the percentage of students who met learning standards was only 27.8%, with an average score of 58. After the picture series media was implemented in Cycle I, the percentage of students who met learning standards increased to 65.4%, with an average score of 72. In Cycle II, the learning achievement rate increased again to 88.5% with an average score of 84. This improvement indicates that serial picture media effectively helps students develop ideas, construct simple sentences, and improve the accuracy of capital letter and punctuation usage. Thus, serial picture media can be used as an alternative learning medium to improve elementary school students’ simple sentence writing skills.
